WHAT IS KENDAMA ZERO?

Kendama Zero is a clear and structured path to improving a beginner player’s kendama skills, built on measurable progression with a strong emphasis on consistency.

In today's game, there hasn't been a system/guide to follow for beginners to measure their abilities and track their progress. This is a method that can be utilized to fill that gap.

Kendama Zero focuses on consistency and fundamental mastery. It takes heavy inspiration from the Japanese Kendama Association "kyu" grading system - meeting a consistency standard on the basics and gradually increasing difficulty as a player climbs the ranks.

How to Start

  1. There are 3 levels to Kendama Zero: Novice, Newcomer, and Natural.
  2. There are 12 Grades (G) in each level. G12 being the lowest, and G1 being the highest.
  3. Under each trick, you will see a number. This number indicates how many times out of 10 you must land the trick.
  4. In order to pass a Grade, you must land all tricks in one go.
    1. For example, in order to pass G10, you must land big cup 4 times out of 10, small cup 3 times out of 10, and base cup 2 times out of 10, all one after the other.
  5. You may test as many times as you like in a day.
  6. You may only use one kendama per test. Switching during a testing period is not allowed.
  7. Moshikame can also be tested once per day, but it is a separate test, so it can be done at a different time. However, to pass a Grade, you must meet its moshikame requirement. Any number you reach up until 500 in one attempt automatically clears all lower grades.
